Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is considered a 4X classic that is still played by many today. It's my personal favorite and one that I find hard to put down. Eventually, Firaxis decided to create a spiritual successor with Civilization: Beyond Earth. One expansion pack later and it was pretty much abandoned. Was it really that bad, or was it just overhyped?
