Last December I did a deep dive into the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. I went through every passage in the New Testament about Mary with my friend Erin Kunkle from MAVEN.
This week's discussion will also focus on Mary. I’m going to consider the question, was Mary a social justice warrior? This show was inspired by a meme I’ve seen floating around social media. The artist was inspired by Mary’s song in Luke 1. The artist described his reimagining of Mary as a “call to economic justice.” This is why he put her fist in the air. So I asked my friend, Father Hayden Butler from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Newport Beach, CA to come on help us walk through the true meaning of this passage.
