In this review, I analyze a CNC router build that showcases some of the most alarming design choices I've encountered. Safety and basic electrical principles cannot be ignored without potentially grave consequences.
We examine critical flaws including:
⚠️ **A Wooden Controller Enclosure** - A flammable housing for high-power electronics is an unacceptable fire risk.
⚠️ **Unprotected Wiring & Electrical Tape** - Bare leads, floating shields, and paper inside the controller create short-circuit and ignition hazards.
⚠️ **USB-Based Motion Control** - An inherently unstable interface for a CNC system, calling claimed "stability" into serious question.
⚠️ **Severe Contamination** - Filthy linear bearings and rails that guarantee lost accuracy and premature mechanical failure.
This isn't just about being "messy." These are fundamental safety violations that could lead to equipment failure, fire, and a voided insurance claim. My goal isn't to shame the builder, but to use this as a critical learning opportunity for the entire maker community on what **not** to do.
