Here’s my 2 cents on the recent reports of disc rot. I’ve known about this for a long time and have tossed and replaced several titles, but didn’t think to check these til now. ALL of these were acquired brand new and handled with utmost care, many of these I never even had time to watch once. Warner was the main company behind DVD and this is ENTIRELY inexcusable, my previous experience in contacting them to get discs replaced has given me the impression that I was inconveniencing them. Many affected titles are now out of print and simply can't be replaced, but this problem was so widespread that Warner should still print new replacement copies of all of them.
Didn’t mention here that when HD-DVDs were being cleared out, I bought nearly every title on clearance. Since then I’ve had over 50 of those go bad (they were made at the same facility as these) and I gave up trying to replace those when I obtained several working copies only to have THOSE go bad later.
