Welcome back! I never have uploads of PBs in general, let alone two on the same track so close together, but I'm happy to do so with these past 2 PBs on WGM. For some more broad backstory, I'd recommend reading the description of my previous PB of 1:50.949.

After that time, I set this run a few days later. I'm very satisfied with this run as it's driven cleanly without any eye-sores like the complete wall hit in my previous PB's lap 3 (the ghost being compared to in the recording). This gets me back on the American tops after close to 10 years being off them. More impressive than it appears as literally almost the entire Worldwide Top 10 is literally the American tops. Which is how most American top 10s are for almost all tracks now. Basically getting on any American top 10 in 2022 is nearly equivalent to a Worldwide Top 10 time in terms of difficulty and I'm happy to land back into 9th here. This was 109ms off of 10th Worldwide when set, and would have been on there if I nailed a time like this just 24-48 hours prior, but that's ok.

I tried one more session after this time to give the beginning turnskip a shot but I'll happily put this down for now. My soft drifting is terrible for what this strategy entails, and at most I save only about half of what you can really save with the strat (I barely saved 100ms comparing both runs here in my previous PB). The beginning turn skip is probably one of the hardest no-glitch/SC strategies to learn in my eyes, from outright making it to truly maximizing the full time-save potential it can provide.

Lap 1 - 36.958

Excellent opener for my standards. Most well-driven lap 1s (with my driving standards) are generally in the 36.92x-36.96x range. This was an ideal lap 1 for me.

Lap 2 - 36.940

I started reincorporating the beginning slip drift MTs into laps 2/3 after my last PB (I stopped going for this briefly as I was too inconsistent at this, and was moreso either breaking even or losing time with how bad my softdrifts are). This was my biggest glaring error for lap 2 apart from the bad ending dip skip strat and a bouncy uphill recovery. Both of these done properly this would be a mid 36.8.

Lap 3 - 36.893

Excellent through and through apart from the ending. The beginning softdrifting was excellent for my own standards, and the time save is evident versus my previous PB. This comparison confirms my previous run was on Worldwide tops pace had I not outright hit the wall in it. The biggest time loss in this lap for me was the ending alignment being wide into the last turn, losing more than it seems. This turn is a big mental block for me currently on just lap 3s as the smoke stacks are blocking your alignment/view for the last turn. You have to full commit a hard and precise last turn to save the most amount of time, but going barely too hard on this you'll hit the corner and lose your run.

As discussed previously, I'm quite pleased to leave this run here now. I improved my time by basically 1 full second in less than a week's time on a track I didn't think I'd return to this soon and get close to top 10 world-class driving/competitiveness again if I'm honest. I've felt so out of touch with my old roots on this track in the previous years, but this mini grind was satisfying and fun to play alongside others trying out the new developing strategies. One thing I always wished I did more of back in my peak over 10 years ago was document more of the progress I made on tracks, especially times I am proud of setting. This is another one to add to the collection now. I'll shift my time investment when I do future TTs into other goals I have for this year now. Thanks for watching.
