After his defeat against Mario in Super Mario Land 2 (youtube.com/watch?v=dbfNiOH_5pQ), Wario finds himself homeless and penniless. So he sets out to collect enough gold and treasure to finance the castle of his dreams.
To do this, what better way than to attack the Brown Sugar Pirates? They happen to have the recently stolen golden statue of Princess Toadstool, for which Wario could make good profit.
However, our protagonist will face a problem: the pirate leader, Captain Syrup, has a magic lamp capable of summoning a powerful genie. In addition, during the battle against the latter, Wario will be overtaken by his long-time rival, Mario, who will himself recover the expensive statue.
A bitter failure for poor Wario? Maybe not, because after his victory against Syrup and her genie, Wario will in turn possess the magic lamp...
Music from the game Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, developed and published by Nintendo, released on Game Boy in 1994.
As in many other Nintendo games, the music in Wario Land practically uses only one musical theme, varied depending on the situation. This theme is in the key of C Major, but dotted with numerous borrowings from the homonymous minor key, notably with the frequent use of the Neapolitan chord. In my opinion, this composition process fits perfectly with the character, at the same time hero, bad guy, touching and burlesque.
