While nothing is learned of about "the man in the wall", we do learn about what happened to Ballas, and through that, what Natah is.
Ballas has been infused with sentient technology in order to keep him alive, or even pull him from death. Sentient material fusing with organic material is something brand new to us, as far as we knew about. Furthermore, we see Natah's influence and Ballas' mind clashing, Ballas doing everything to keep his gaze away from his own work, and away from the star child.
So, did Natah, a normal sentient, randomly betray its own sentient kind as well as Ballas? No, we can see the full picture.
Ballas betrayed the Orokin because of Margulis' death. In turn, they revived Margulis, though as a sentient, as Natah. This is why she looks identical to Margulis, according to Ballas. What that means is, Natah is sentient, and made from the human body of Margulis, but with Margulis' influence over Natah to protect the star children, she becomes the Lotus. After her capture by Ballas and Hunhow, she was reset back to being Natah.
So odds are we'll probably appeal to Margulis and re-awaken her and save her and all that later on. Like maybe in 2023™.
