When you do a slide hop toward the 2nd boost pad, you need to jump/slide jump off it, and make sure you can get into the tunnel as soon as you can. Even if you don't maintain your speed, you can stack a few slides into a jump, so the sooner you're able to do so the sooner you can get through/out of it.
