Sunset
(A poem(?) by Arctica)
And as I stared out into the sunset,
Letting waves of the sky’s pink and orange hues wash over my fur
Painting me bright and vibrant as the sky
The warmth of the sun’s heat embraced me
As the cool breeze echoed through my ears
I felt a sense of peace, a moment of tranquility
Floating as carelessly as the clouds dragging by
Here I stand, before this sunset, saying goodbye to the place I called home
Before setting forth on a journey across the galaxy
To begin my own in a different world
Who knows if I will ever be able to see sunsets as breathtaking as the one that towers before me,
Threatening my very existence for daring to disrupt its daily ceremony to welcome the night.
Yet here I stood, and here I dared
Challenging the crimson sky
Face to face with the fires that danced above the water
Igniting the horizon, and setting the world ablaze
The sea reflecting the dazzling light show
It’s enough to force one’s eyes closed
Enough to bring a tear to the eye
I do not know what lies behind that sunset
Once the sun descends into the water
Once the sky shifts from red to black
Once the stars above become visible once more
And once the moon peeks out from behind a dark cloud
I just know,
There’s a sunrise waiting
On the other side.
