This morning I headed south from Lighthouse Point for a relaxed wander through neighboring Deerfield Beach. With the South Florida heat already building, the plan was simple: take it easy, make my way through The Cove, cross the Intracoastal Waterway, and see what was happening along the oceanfront.
The ride takes us from quiet residential streets into The Cove, one of Deerfield Beach's longtime waterfront plazas, where shops and restaurants give way to the marina and the boating side of South Florida life. From there, we cross the Intracoastal onto the barrier island, make our way toward the Deerfield Beach pier and oceanfront, and spend a little time wandering around the beach before turning back along A1A.
There's no complicated itinerary here and no need to rush. Just a hot Saturday morning, a South Florida coastal community, and another chance to see what we find along the way with the Amaiwan Traveler.
