"Remember October 1st, 1971"
50 years ago today, Roy Disney continued the vision of his brother Walt with the creation of the second Disney theme park named in his honor and legacy: Walt Disney World. Although envisioned to be the home of the new Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), Roy stuck with what he knew for only Walt is capable of directing the construction of a new city of the future. And so, Magic Kingdom came to be the Disneyland of Florida (in Orange County, no less, because "we like oranges"). This also marks 50 years of operation for the Walt Disney World Railroad and here we pay homage to both the Park and the WDWRR here.
Included is the dedication by Roy from October 25, 1971, then a montage of the Railroad's engines (Walter E. Disney, Lilly Belle, Roger E. Broggie and Roy O. Disney) with a small homage to the one who started it all.
