Celebrating the 15th anniversary of my original silhouette, this video documents the full build process of the Wallace 2026 Anniversary Edition. This model represents the "final form" of a design I first debuted in 2011, now refined with an uncompromising all-bridle construction.
The Build Process
Every step of this build is a labor of love, executed without the use of sewing machines. This is pure, traditional craftsmanship.
Selection & Cutting: I begin with thick, vegetable-tanned English bridle leather sourced from the legendary Wickett & Craig tannery in the USA.
The Anniversary Lining: Unlike previous models lined with delicate calf suede, the 2026 edition is lined with the same English bridle leather as the exterior. This creates a remarkably smooth, structured interior that is easy to maintain and will patina in unison with the outside over the decades.
Hand Saddle Stitching: Every seam is hand-stitched using the traditional saddle stitch method. This process is time-intensive but creates a bond far stronger than any machine-made stitch.
Hardware & Finishing: I’ve fitted this piece with a high-end Italian solid brass key lock. The edges are meticulously coated with a durable, rubbery latex paint to ensure a clean, professional finish that protects the leather for a lifetime.
Key Features
Full Bridle Construction: Both the exterior and interior are built from premium Wickett & Craig leather.
Refined Straps: The double front straps and adjustable shoulder strap are fully lined for added strength and comfort.
Heritage Layout: Includes a full-width back newspaper pocket and standard internal pockets.
A Legacy Piece: Built to endure for another 15 years and beyond, developing a character unique to the person who carries it.
Bespoke Orders & Customization
Each Wallace 2026 is hand-built by me, Peter Joseph "BriefcaseMaker" Kalafatis. Custom hardware options, including the Marcellino Latch or a quick-release lock, are available upon request.
