Wall Street just moved real stocks onto a blockchain and almost nobody noticed.

On July 15 the DTCC, the clearinghouse sitting behind American stock trades, processed its first live trades using tokenized assets. Microsoft shares, the SPY S&P 500 fund, the SGOV Treasury fund, and Treasuries at different maturities. More than 30 institutions took part, including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock and Vanguard. The full service launches in October.
Here is the part that matters. In April the SEC promised an innovation exemption that would let tokenized securities trade on open rails. By May 18 it was reported as days away. Then Nasdaq and NYSE raised flags about market fragmentation, and the SEC shelved it with no new timeline.
So the open version got buried and a private version got fast tracked.
Meanwhile Robinhood launched its own public chain on July 1. One week later it cleared over $500 million in DEX volume in 24 hours, and it passed Coinbase's chain in daily active users. Americans cannot buy the stock tokens, but the chain itself is wide open, and traders are already pairing memecoins against tokenized equities. Tokenized stock volume there went from under $500,000 a day to $8.1 million.
Two financial systems are being built at once. One private, one open.
Watch what they do, not what they say.
