I recorded some sounds from a battered xylophone left in the corridor of the studios, (thinking about Julius Eastman's Feminine at the time) direct into the mic on the walkman dictaphone. Playing it back spinning on the turntable, we recorded it with a stereo pair of mics. This sound can be heard at the start of the piece Telescope. I also did another take on the second pass, playing with the tape controls to change pitch etc.
