This walk starts at Tokyo Dome City, a sprawling entertainment complex built around the famous Tokyo Dome stadium in the Bunkyo ward. The area includes LaQua, an amusement park with a roller coaster that weaves through the buildings, as well as shops, restaurants, and open plazas. The architecture here feels very modern and the atmosphere changes depending on the time of day, with plenty of space to walk around and take everything in.
The second half of the video moves to Asakusa, one of Tokyo's oldest and most culturally rich neighborhoods in the Taito ward. The walk goes through the area surrounding Sensoji Temple, which dates back to the year 645 and is considered the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. Nakamise Street, the long shopping lane leading to the temple gate, has been serving visitors for centuries and is lined with small stalls selling traditional snacks, crafts, and souvenirs.
Both locations sit along or near the Sumida River and are easy to reach by train. Tokyo Dome City represents the modern, entertainment side of the city while Asakusa holds on to a much older identity that has survived earthquakes, fires, and war.
