Have you ever gotten the chance to visit the ruins of the city of Pompeii? Walking through the streets and buildings that were once filled with life but now empty and barren was such a surreal moment for me.

If you didn't know, Pompeii was a Roman city near modern day Naples, Italy, that was destroyed and buried under volcanic ash and lava during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.. The city remained frozen in time for centuries, providing a preserved, detailed snapshot of daily Roman life. Today, it is a major UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular archaeological destination.
