Walking from Royal St. Kitts to Basseterre Port – December Heat, Local Sights & Tips
Join me as I walk from the Royal St. Kitts area near Frigate Bay into downtown Basseterre and the Port Zante cruise terminal. It’s about a 1-hour walk (5–5.5 km), mostly along main roads — some sidewalks, some shoulder walking — and yes, it’s hot and humid even in December! 🌞 Expect temps around 27°C (80°F) with sticky humidity, so start early and bring water.
Along the way, I’ll show you Independence Square — a quiet public space in the heart of town — and explore Port Zante, packed with duty-free shops, local vendors, and colorful Caribbean energy.
We also pass Dubai , known for its local braiding salons and beauty shops. If you're in the market for a fresh look, that’s the place.
Public shared transport in St. Kitts are a bit limited. Minibuses (green plates starting with "H") run from Basseterre to villages, but they don’t service Frigate Bay, so you’ll need a taxi or shuttle if you're staying at a resort.
