For those unaware…
a biomethane plant was proposed to be built in Babilafuente (near Salamanca).
(biomethane is ‘green energy’ made of animal waste, sewage, and organic leftovers)
So why protest?
The plant would be ~300 meters from people’s homes…meaning imagine 70+ trucks a DAY carrying manure and waste through your town and invading your nostrils, no bueno.
I love that protests like these exist bc I had no clue about it
Locals aren’t keen on the idea of toxic gases, bad odors, and the risks of having an energy plant so close by so they’re out and about protesting
