Wales Interactive is pleased to announce that the Wales Games Development Show is back!

Building on the success of last year's show which had over 350 visitors and 30 exhibitors, the 2013 Show will draw on new partnerships with the UK industry and will offer even more to the industry and public attending.

This year's Wales Games Development Show will have two exhibition halls, a huge networking area and will host BAFTA in Wales lectures and workshops running throughout the day. Highlights of the day will include a keynote from Ian Livingstone CBE, master classes from the BBC and UK Interactive Entertainment and a BAFTA Games Question Time. "The Show will be a great opportunity to showcase talented games and interactive development companies and projects from across the digital media industry in Wales," said David Banner, Managing Director of Wales Interactive. "It will also be a good chance to network, find talent, gain experience and obtain knowledge about a wide array of topics related to games development and publishing industry."

The event is being supported by the Welsh Government and Media Antenna Wales. Economy Minister Edwina Hart said:" The Welsh Government is pleased to support this event, which provides a great opportunity to highlight the work being undertaken by creative companies in Wales. It also gives those working in the industry a chance to network with like-minded individuals and benefit from the range of lectures, master classes and ancillary events planned for the day."

"Games development is a highly competitive and rapidly growing area of the economy, which is supported by the Welsh Government through our Digital Development Fund that is helping to bring an exciting range of new games and apps onto the market."
Another exciting announcement for this year's show is that the Presentation of the British Academy Cymru Awards for Games will round off the day in style. The Awards, which will also be hosted at the iconic Wales Millennium Centre, will announce the new BAFTA in Wales Award for Best Game and 4 commendations offered for Artistic Achievement, Technical Achievement, Sound & Music and Games Design.
The lead organiser of the show is Wales Interactive working in association with the Wales Games Group, comprising of University of South Wales, Skillset Media Academy Wales, Wales Interactive, BAFTA Wales, Creative Skillset Cymru, Cardiff Council, S4C, BBC Wales, GamesDev South Wales and the Big Learning Company.
The Show is going to be one of the highlights during the Digital Cardiff Week event -- which is led by a number of partners including the BBC, S4C, Cardiff Council, Creative Skillset Cymru, BAFTA Cymru and Skillset Media Academy Wales; this is a week-long programme which celebrates and explores the major digital opportunities for the creative industries sector in Wales.
