Home Assistant | Wake word demonstration on ESPHome-based 3D printed droid in Home Assistant | Year of the Voice @home_assistant | Uploaded October 2023 | Updated October 2024, 12 hours ago.
If there's one thing people have been asking for during the Year of the Voice, it's wake word. The ability to say something like "OK Google," "Hey Siri," or "Alexa" to make your smart home automatically listen to your commands. Guess what - we did it. Wake word is now available in Home Assistant. This video demonstrates a 3D-printed R5 droid voice assistant based on ESPHome, using a wake word to control the lights.

R5 can speak thanks to the following 'Text to Astromech' integration: github.com/vigonotion/tts.astromech
