On 18 April 2024, three-year-old Unecebo Mboteni fell into a pit toilet at his day care centre in the Eastern Cape province. He died the next day. One year on and his family still don’t have answers to how this tragic incident happened. According to the family, the incident is still being investigated with no one yet held to account.
