Watch as I fly high and push my latest setup to the limit on Kailajarvi, Finland in the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 Rally car.
I hope you find the included setups a useful improvement over the default setups on DiRT Rally 2.0.
Car Damage is always a factor in Finland. Typically, driving with the default setup I was getting and 6-7 minutes of repair time driving at these speeds. With my custom setups I had managed to reduce that damage to around 30-45 seconds per stage. You WILL be constantly fixing minor damage to the radiator, exhaust and body damage even if you do NOT crash. This is due to the huge jumps featured in Finland.
Top tips for Finland:
Avoid the junction marker flags!
These will damage your radiator and front bumper. Typically around 30 seconds total per strike. This is more than any other location in the game. Also if you tag one while in the air it will cause the car to rotate and in extreme cases.... make you 180. These markers should not have any impact on the car but sadly it does.
Brake on the big jumps!
Tapping the brakes just before the crest on the big jumps will compress the front suspension and reduce the arc of the jump. This will also reduce the impact with the ground and shorten the amount of time in the air. Which means less damage and more time with wheels on the ground turning and accelerating.

Trialling all new camera settings (LOG Mode with some adjustments) for the GoPro Hero 12, I take on Mediterraneos high speed stage Cabanella with the Ford Fiesta Rally3. This stage is not for the faint hearted, with reaching speeds over 120mph in a rally 3 car coupled with quite a high grade centre camber in the road. This stage will test the best and brightest of sim racers to their limits.
Image stabilisation (Hypersmooth 6.0) has been turned off for this run to remove the zoomed effect in the last video, this also helps improve the visual quality in low light situations, apparently. I think it makes the footage look a bit more visceral though, as you get a better sense of the forces involved and you can see every movement my head takes during the stage run. But what do you think? Do you prefer hypersmooth on or off?

In this video you can watch me take on the new Assetto Corsa Rally simulator for my first max attack drive.
At this point, my 10th run on the stage I felt comfortable enough that I knew which way the corners go... well almost all of them. As you will see from the on stage footage.
I found getting used to a new game and all the new models that go with it troublesome as first, especially on asphalt. As the detail you feel through the wheel is at an all time new level of precision.
Naturally, I have also included my first setup for Assetto Corsa Rally. Take it with a pinch of salt, though. As I still have a lot to learn and I will be revisiting the first bunch of setups after my stage knowledge has grown.
