Vulkan vs OpenGl - Linux/ Wine/ Proton Performance Benchmark (Resident Evil 6, 3Dmark 2005) #ubuntu

I was really interested how would vulkan compare to openGl under wine.
Please note that even though intel is known for good linux drivers other hardware might perform differently and on thing is for sure if CPU is bottlenecking the performance you rather use Vulkan.

So i started RE6 benchmark and i was really surprised how was opengl faster than vulkan. Than i thought that Vulkan is known to be lighter on cpu so i decided to run 3dmark and the results were really telling even though the GPU performance was slightly better on opengl, the cpu performance was way better under Vulkan.
So this was very telling because i remember early vulkan apps were actually slower than OpenGl in 3D performance (something that i encountered) however the CPU performance shows that vulkan is doing the thing that it was designed for, being lighter on CPU.

This was done on Intel 8250 with integrated graphics uhd 620
The benchmark was done on max 1080P resolution without recording on soda-9.0-1

The recording was done after all the benchmarks were finished used obs and game recording so not a factor in any tests.

One thing that is very important to know: Currently it's quite hard to run opengl with modern wine versions and modern api (dx11) so using openGL might be a good idea for old api's but modern games will be almost impossible to run with openGL something to know.
