The Hive was created in May 2017 by Vivian Chazen after she won AltspaceVR’s Who Wants to Be a Talk Show Host competition. Vivian began hosting weekly shows in Altspace and shortly branched out to other social platforms, such as VR Chat and Facebook Spaces. Notable VR personalities that have made appearances on Vivian’s weekly shows include Mike of VR Oasis and Iva Leon of ARVR Women and Allies. The Hive has featured VR games such as Pixel Ripped, Orbus, and Big Breezy Boat. The show reaches beyond gaming and has covered VR in the military, healthcare, and education sectors, as well as people of interest outside of VR, such as co-author of The Walking Dead novels, Jay Bonansinga, and musical entertainer, Luke Reynolds.
The Hive has since grown into a production team of creative doers and together produced over 100 social VR experiences; from hosting a weekly show to behind-the-scenes, VR product launching, The Hive with Navah and more. In 2019, The Hive joined VRespawn to combine expertise of VR and onsite production from both teams.
