$Raysolve Micro-LED Displays with 850,000 Nits and Quantum Dot Color Conversion Raysolve showcases its micro-LED microdisplay technology, developed by Waisop Optoelectronics, for AR and MR applications. The companys monolithic full-color microdisplays utilize quantum dots and achieve brightness levels up to 850,000 nits directly from the panel. When integrated into a light engine, the maximum brightness is around 1 million nits. The technology is demonstrated in lightweight AR glasses, weighing only 38 grams, which use binocular diffractive waveguides for 3D imaging capabilities. HDMI® Technology is the foundation for the worldwide ecosystem of HDMI-connected devices; integrated with displays, set-top boxes, laptops, audio video receivers and other product types. Because of this global usage, manufacturers, resellers, integrators and consumers must be assured that their HDMI® products work seamlessly together and deliver the best possible performance by sourcing products from licensed HDMI Adopters or authorized resellers. Innovation continues with the latest HDMI 2.2 Specification that supports higher 96Gbps bandwidth and next-gen HDMI Fixed Rate Link technology to provide optimal audio and video for a wide range of device applications. Higher resolutions and refresh rates are supported, including up to 12K@120 and 16K@60. Additionally, more high-quality options are supported, including uncompressed full chroma formats such as 8K@60/4:4:4 and 4K@240/4:4:4 at 10-bit and 12-bit color. The displays feature a high color gamut, reaching up to 100% of the DCI-P3 standard. One demonstrated panel is a 0.1-inch QVGA microdisplay with a resolution of 320x240. The system uses blue micro-LEDs with quantum dot color conversion for red, alongside native green micro-LEDs. The monochrome green panels can achieve a brightness of 7 million nits, explaining their common use in monocolor AR glasses. The company is developing its technology to support higher resolutions, such as 2K by 2K, for MR devices which have greater resolution demands than AR. Raysolve is also advancing its pixel technology, currently at a 4-micron sub-pixel pitch, with a next-generation target of 2.5 microns. This allows for smaller display sizes and higher pixel densities. The manufacturing process is based on standard semiconductor fabrication techniques, bonding micro-LED epilayers onto a CMOS wafer and using photolithography to pattern the quantum dots. This approach is expected to enable lower production costs compared to micro-OLEDs once mass production is achieved. Partnerships are a key part of the strategy, with collaborations on waveguide technology with companies like RayPi Tech and Zeiss. These integrations result in a final brightness to the eye of around 1,000 nits after accounting for waveguide efficiency. The company is also exploring applications beyond displays, including optical interconnects. To support its growth, the company is currently in small volume production and plans to build its own dedicated high-standard fabrication facility in China, with construction starting at the end of the year. This fab will handle the entire manufacturing process on silicon CMOS substrates, aiming to scale production and make high-brightness, high-resolution micro-LED displays more accessible for the consumer market.$
