The theme of this vPub, despite the title, isn't about bottle recommendations. There's plenty of that around and sure to be more of it in the future. This session will focus on how we can encourage friends and acquaintances into whisky. Perhaps discover a few more whisky pals and encourage those around us who care to spend less time drinking and more time tasting.
So, how? Honestly, just use what you have on hand already.
When we share whisky it's so often a case of sharing what we've grown to love and staring at our friends/family/victims while they try them, demanding some kind of response. I think it can be better sometimes to have them think about why the thing might taste like it does and from there have them layer their own thoughts. Defocus from finding and labelling flavours and refocus on contrasting them instead.
I'll pick the general theme and structure and suggest a few bottles which might fit. In the meantime, let me ask you: What three bottles would you bring along to share the flavours and spectrum of whisky to a curious pal?
Yes, just three.
I'll wager that the more of an enthusiast you are, the harder you'll find that to do. Bring your choices along and help us convert some of those just outside the whisky bubble. Just for fun. Their fun, yes. But if we're honest, ours too.
