This session is less to do with what flavours are imparted from each of the two most popular casks used in scotch whisky maturation. It’s certainly not a dive into the history or the reasons for either. It’s a look at what it means for us, today in 2024.
What’s available? What’s comparable and what’s the cost implication? I’ll break it down over five categories of whiskies:
Gateway whiskies
Integrity/Natural whiskies
Fan favourites
Premium treats
Cask strength
Through this, we’ll be able to cover well-known brands, new distilleries, new releases and reliable old favourites alongside some interesting and current developments happening in the whiskysphere. And, as always, all with a keen eye on flavour - and price.
