Never in documented history has this volcano erupted but on 23 November a large eruption at Hayli Gubbi, Ethiopia sent a plume through the troposphere. The lower plume impact local people and farming while the upper plume disrupted flights across multiple countries. In this video we investigate precursor signs in the satellite imagery - a small crater cloud months before, and we explain the multi-directional plume. Detailed satellite imagery and animations are presented and analyzed.
