Over the last few weeks we've entered into the hottest days of the year, meaning the time I get to spend outside with the earth has been significantly limited but I've been trying to find ways around it to connect back to the earth once again.
In this vlog I featured quite a few recipes that I am very excited to share and as always I will be writing the one's that are finalized down below! I hope you all enjoyed and thank you all so much for watching and for all of your kindness and support!

Jewelweed Salve (for healing poison ivy)
the recipe is fairly large and I would recommend perhaps cutting it in half unless you deal with a lot of poison ivy!
-two cups of olive oil
-enough jewelweed (stems and leaves) to sit covered under the olive oil when chopped
*****make sure the jewelweed is fresh as we are using the "goo" from it in this recipe, dried jewelweed will not work for this
-two ounces of beeswax
-a good spoonful of coconut oil
To make:
chop the jewelweed stems and leaves into one inch segments adding them to a mason jar or other heat proof jar (we are going to be making a makeshift double boiler here as we do with every salve recipe!)
add the olive oil on top of the jewelweed making sure everything is submerged
then add the mason jar with the oil and jewelweed to a pot of water
bring the water to a boil and let the infusion heat up, stirring every once in a while for 3 hours
then let the infusion sit for 4-6 hours or overnight undisturbed
once this time has passed add the mason jar with the oil and the jewelweed back to the pot with water alongside another mason jar filled with the beeswax
bring the water to a boil slowly melting the beeswax and bringing the oil up to temperature
once the beeswax is melted strain the jewelweed oil into the beeswax and give it a good mix then add in your coconut oil and transfer to a metal tin or glass jar for safe keeping
once it is cooled it is safe to use! just add a little bit of the salve to the reaction areas anytime you are feeling an itch!
it should last up to six months but may last longer depending on how it is stored

Bushcraft Detergent
-70 - 80 large ivy leaves
-liter of water

Plantain Oil
-enough plantain leaves to fill a large mason jar when shredded
-olive oil
Begin by gathering your plantain leaves. - now as with anything wildcrafted be absolutely positive of your identification before harvesting the plant for medicinal or edible preparations!!!
Next don't be like me and remember to rinse off the leaves before chopping them up!
Then chop up the leaves to make the extraction process easier
Then add them to a mason jar and cover with oil
Leave in a cool dark place for 4 - 6 weeks to allow it to infuse giving it a good shake every time you remember
this oil should last for 6 months up to a year and can be used in and of itself or as a base in all sorts of medicinal preparations
