The paradox of artificial intelligence is one of the hot topics of the 11th Heidelberg Laureate Forum. In this episode we talk to child psychologist Brigitte Röder about how human learning compares to machine learning and to Leslie Valiant, a pioneer of machine learning, and winner of the Nevanlinna Prize and ACM A.M. Turing Award. We also explore some mathematical art with Moira Chas!

The vlog is presented by Marianne Freiberger and Rachel Thomas, Editors of http://plus.maths.org. They'll guide you through this exciting week, talking to participants and giving you glimpses behind the scenes.

The Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) is an annual networking conference where 200 carefully selected young researchers in mathematics and computer science spend a week interacting with the laureates of the most prestigious awards in their disciplines: the Abel Prize, ACM A.M. Turing Award, ACM Prize in Computing, Fields Medal, IMU Abacus Medal and Nevanlinna Prize.
