Welcome to week 9, I lost 5 pounds this week (19 lbs total) so I'm back on the wagon. The weight I had gained over the Christmas holidays shed in a week, and I'm slowly getting back to my regular routine (and feeling relieved about it!)
This week I'm discussing the financial drain of binge eating disorder - because you need to buy food in order to eat it (most of the time). According to one source, the average binge-eater in America spends about $1600 USD every year on "binge food" over and above their normal food. I decided to figure out just how much binge eating costs, and over three years I calculated I spent about $1450 USD last year (2018), and my highest expenditure on junk food was about $1700 USD (back in 2016). Over the last 5 years, I estimate that I've eaten through an entire year's worth of rent money (not on groceries, but just on candy and "fun" food).
This week I decided to set a reasonable budget of $30 per month on "fun" food so that I don't feel like I'm being deprived. If I went to the dollar store, I could get a small treat each day - or I can save up that money and go to a restaurant with friends once a month.
