On the night of May 31, 2024 I mixed visuals on an LED screen for 7 hours straight at Odessa Club in Warsaw Poland. The event was called Waveblades, featuring a lineup of DJs and producers who all create a style of electronic music that fans simply call "wave". The genre is relatively more popular in Eastern Europe than anywhere else arguably, and it can be described as a mixture of dark trap, witch house, dark futuristic ambiance, and electroclash beats (like Crystal Castles or Sidewalks & Skeletons). I've been a fan of this music for years now, so I couldn't pass on an opportunity to VJ for @BarnacleBoi, Brothel., ÆSTRAL, @enjoii, Nevaeh, Yell, Pexøt, and @shxpe

This video is a compilation of recordings I could gather from the night, showing something from each set and the different looks I provided. Brothel.'s set had my favorite moments, including 'Slide' and when he played his track 'VEDMA' at 1:38 which I included in full.

For my VJ setup I used the following: @ResolumeVJSoftware Arena 7, Digital to Analog Downscaler / Upscaler, the Premium Cable and HDK-01 by @bpmcglitch, AKAI MIDI Mix for controlling software effects and mixing layers. In the end my laptop had 3 separate display outputs in addition to its built-in display. This means that one output was showing the final visuals on the LED wall, one was processing a layer group in Resolume with analog hardware, and the other was processing a different layer group with a digital circuit bend (the HDK). These two analog and digital glitch flavors were combined with the help of two HDMI-USB Magewell capture devices active as sources in Resolume.
