I am obsessed with this song.
I have listened to it on repeat.
It is amazing, and I realized the french words told a story of someone having a crush on someone. So I got this narrative in my head that was in my head all afternoon and now I can finally share it with you.
This video is a close up with a person whom they admire. The interaction is warm, lush, and this is clearly a memory of the “one that got away” displayed in this video.
The jack card represents the person viewing and the queen represents the unattainable figure in the video, who was never meant for Jack in the long run.
My interpretation is based off of OHappiDay's translation below:
"je te laisserai des mots" / "i will write you notes"
The person is going to write their crush notes, in hopes to spark some romance. while they are still listening to the song, they sing about how they feel and what they're going to do.
"en-dessous de ta porte" / "underneath your door"
The person will leave the notes underneath the door so that their crush will see them. they feel this will make it more romantic.
"en-dessous de la lune qui chant" / "underneath the singing moon"
The person takes time to stop and admire the beautiful night sky, and how the moon seems to sing to them from the sky above their crush's door.
"tout près de la place où tes pieds passent" / "near the place where your feet pass by"
The person is referencing the path that their crush takes to get to school/work, and how they see them pass by there often.
"cachés dans les trous dans le temps d'hiver" / "hidden in the holes of wintertime"
It's wintertime, so the path their crush takes is hidden under snow, with holes where feet have stepped, marking where it is."
"et quand tu es seule pendant un instant" / "and when you're alone for a moment"
"embrasse moi" / "kiss me"
"quand to voudras" / 'whenever you want"
The person is longing for their crush to kiss them, and they would like it to happen whenever their crush felt the time was right, and they were alone together.
