A local recently messaged me about an old Fiat crawler loader he inherited, asking if I’d take a look. It hasn’t run in a while and seems to have fuel system issues, so I went out to investigate.

Right away, I found corrosion inside the injector pump housing, where there should be oil—likely meaning the pump needs a full strip-down and rebuild or a replacement. On top of that, most of the hydraulic lines are in rough shape, one of the bucket rams and hoses is missing, and the radiator is bone dry.

And just to make things more interesting… the machine is being guarded by hundreds of wasps!

Is this old workhorse worth saving? Let’s take a closer look.
