From its classic offset body and sleek curves to its expansive tonal palette that it can achieve, the Fender Jazzmaster has truly earned its legendary status. Here, guitarist and producer Rob Gueringer (a.k.a Freaky Rob) exclusively shares with us his own untouched, all-original vintage 1966 Fender Jazzmaster that he purchased at Guitar Center Hollywood. With a beautifully aged maple neck and rosewood fingerboard, an eye-catching nitrocellulose sunburst finish and robust single-coil pickups; this piece of vintage gear is a staple in Rob’s arsenal.
"When I pick it up, it just makes me feel like one of those great retro players I used to study, and that vibe just naturally goes into what I'm playing," he says. "It's the feel, it's the sound and it's the look. It's the grit that I know is behind this guitar that helps me express the story I'm trying to tell."
This breathtaking example of a vintage 1966 Fender Jazzmaster speaks to the vibe that Freaky Rob likes to create--retro-inspired modern sounds.
