Thorfinn getting beaten like that, it was rough to watch. Because okay, he knew how to avoid the first ones but after Snake's intervention, he was really taking the punches fully. And the fact that he wanted to do that only to have the right to talk with Canute about another option than "surrender or die", with someone who clearly knows he's here and doesn't want to talk with him… Thorfinn was really a martyr here, suffering and risking his life, but not for himself, to save people. And for these guys to recognize him as a true warrior at the end… for sure you have me with that !
We finally had the reunion between Canute and Thorfinn. I thought we missed more of their story, but in fact no : at the end of season 1, Canute sold Thorfinn as a slave, that's all. Canute clearly didn't understand yet how much Thorfinn changed, he thinks that the boy still hates him when he understood that Canute had no other choice. Thorfinn tries to sell his compromise : okay, that's it, you proved your point, you came, you killed a lot of them, that's gonna be hard, maybe impossible for them, to rebuild after that, it's done, they're punished enough, you can leave. But Canute didn't become a King of compromises. Not gonna say again that he's in fact the King of illogical contradictions.
