🔍 About Viet Thanh Nguyen
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen, born in Buôn Mê Thuột, Vietnam, fled to the U.S. with his family among 130,000 refugees after the Vietnam War in 1975. He earned degrees in English and Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. in English. His acclaimed debut novel, The Sympathizer, won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His works also include The Refugees and Nothing Ever Dies (a National Book Award finalist). Nguyen is a University Professor at USC, a Guggenheim and MacArthur fellow, and champion of Vietnamese diaspora arts.
