Day 5 Prompt:
Create an app that allows a user to practice typing. It should perform like a word processor. It should have a box for composing text. Beneath the box it should have a keyboard. When a user types each keystroke, the keyboard on the screen should indicate the key was typed by changing color for a brief second. Simultaneously, the letter should appear in the box for composing text. The user should be able to click a button to copy all text in the box so it can be pasted elsewhere. The app should track WAMs and display this metric from the start of typing to the completion of typing.
Based on the users inputs, can you predict which letter in the sequence will come next to complete the word they are typing? If so, will you color the likely options for the next potential letter a complementary color of blue? For example, if a user types boo, the next potential letter choice would be k, t,m, and possibly others. Those options should show blue until the next letter is typed. The process should repeat after each keystroke.
I think we need to expand to cover more than 200 common English words. What about words in the vocabulary of a 2nd grader? Also, when there is no text input in the box, the blue keys do not need to be shown.
When the user clicks away from the compose text box, the calculation for Words per minute should pause. When the user clicks back into the box, no calculations should be made. When the user begins typing again, then the calculation should reset.
When calculating WPM, do not factor in errors or deletions.
