100%ING TONY HAWKS AMERICAN WASTELAND andyTHPS 2024-03-18 | I worked on this game as a Level Designer, and this was my first time ever attempting to 100% the game entirely. THAW is charming and great in its own way, but unfortunately, the misfires for double rolls and flips ruins the game for me completely. Boned ollies are a runner up, whereas the bike and parkour mishaps can be avoided for the most part.I debated whether or not to include the Gap portion of this in the edit, but we voted on it in discord and 95+% of the voters said that they'd enjoy it all in one video.Thanks for tuning in. In October 2023, I had a big health scare and was out of commission for a couple months, and have since been editing this video whenever I can. THPS2DC 100% CAREER ALL CHARACTERS andyTHPS 2023-05-20 | THPS2 still holds up!! I'm playing it on THPS2 DC because THPS2 on PS1 emulated was too laggy, and THPS2PC would close any time you minimized it, and you had to play it full screen at very low resolution. I tried downloading some mods and patches but it ended up making it super fast and unplayable (clip at the beginning). I think the audio mix may be too low, but the in-game sounds were SO loud i had to bring everything down. Anyway, let me know what you think of this video. They had way more people playing online when it released (just a few weeks after the PS2 version release date), more game modes, higher resolution, and a fly cam mode!I played THPS3 on PS2 more than any other game in my life, but I barely played Career mode at all. andyTHPSs Projekt 2 (2005 rerender) andyTHPS 2023-02-15 | I wanted to make a THPS video with separate parts similar to pros in real skate videos, so it could end up being solid entertainment for 30-40 minutes.I never finished it because once I had a solid foundation, I found out that there was a seemingly arbitrary limit with how many regions you could create in one project with Windows Movie Maker. Once It started getting too big, it would eventually run extremely slow and inevitably crash, so I back-burnered the whole thing.I had rendered out each portion over several iterations to share with friends, so that's what we're looking at here.At the beginning, there's a Super Double Dragon clip which was one of my favorite games growing up. I had a folder full of gameplay clips I'd taken from playing other games that I really wanted to work into the edit to try and branch out from traditional THPS vids and try to get more people outside the THPS community watching (SF Rush, Street Fighter, Counterstrike, Megaman X, Contra 3), but after all of the crashing/editing woes, I stopped pursuing the project altogether and it never came around.So here we are almost 20 years later, editing these 5 parts together and putting a bow on it and calling it "done." :)I was really happy with how Multiplayer Mayhem, Run, Skep, Run, and Yeah, Right! all came out. The moment with orbital is cool too, but the manual around LA doesn't really hold up today, and probably should have been cut.In hindsight, these all could be their own separate video aside from the Intro. andyTHPSs Projekt (2004 rerender) andyTHPS 2023-01-07 | In March of 2004, this video was one of the first of its kind. Most people didn't have a way to capture their gameplay at all, and the people who *did* would only put out combo videos with no editing.I had toyed with the idea of editing a video based on what a real skating video would look like, but I thought it would be a better idea to combine that with arcade THPS gameplay into one video, and try to capture the vibe of what it was like to play THPS4 online at the time (doubles, KOTH jukes, outtakes etc).I was originally experimenting with Gangstarr's Full Clip for the bg song, and had made a few iterations, but I eventually landed on Tool's Parbol and Parabola which I thought would lend itself well for a slow build at the beginning, and really slam in for the transition into Parabola. I was really into playing the song on drums at the time so it was fresh in my head.Right when the song kicks in, I knew I wanted to drop the start of a combo video, and I had already recorded the death or glory combo so I threw it in as a placeholder, but ended up keeping it. The bail on the LA wire where I shove my face into the QP lip was a bail I'd do by accident all the time in THPS3 days, and I captured it specifically for that transition in this video.The same could be said for most of the video. I only had a few things captured like the Manhattan NM and Death or Glory combo, but for most of the video, I was capturing footage that I thought would fit the music bit-by-bit starting from the beginning-to-end. The song served as a map. I put the 2 big combos where I wanted them to start in the song, and then worked around that.I would assemble brand new CAPs to do one trick just for one part, capture it, then move on to the next thing. Asked Draco and Gnarkill on separate occasions to try and do some doubles stuff, record, and find places for the cuts, then move on to the next parts.Looking back at this video is really wild. I used windows movie maker, and used way too many white flashes ("Fade-In from White"), and most of the content doesn't really hold up today at all. There's a lot of placeholder content that could have been way better. For the time, it was all very experimental just to see if I could make something work, and the quality suffered in the long-run, but I was still very proud of it.The reason I spelled it "projekt" was because the WMM file menu read "Save Project As..." and it was the first thing that came to mind and was different from "project." I just thought "'Project', but silly. So, 'Projekt.'" I don't think that aged well. The game has a load of issues, but I'd say it's a step above THP8 on PS2. It looks like it picked up where the Shaba guys left off with their repository (same animations, sounds, mostly the same controls etc).They allow you to walk during a combo to complete goals or to continue your combo after time has expired in this version. 👏This is on PS2 hardware running composite to HDMI, then to an Elgato 4k60 internal capture device.
