When you have enough shield energy and block with Vexcalibur, you can give yourself a Void overshield essentially for free! You don't even need ammo to do this! You can use this overshield to increase your overall resilience value, activate Offensive Bulwark for more grenade regeneration, as well as buff your teammates and activate the Noble Deeds intrinsic weapon trait!

Vexcalibur grants overshields in chunks of 5 hp for a total of 40 hp with a full overshield (same as Bastion). So 1 chunk of shield is 5 hp. This may not seem like a lot, but that can be anywhere from 2-5 Resilience depending on the starting Resilience value. This is easily enough to change the optimal TTK and/or the precision requirement, which can be the difference between winning or losing an engagement.
Furthermore, any teammates near you will also get this overshield! If you run a weapon with the intrinsic trait Noble Deeds (which you should), you can get 30 Reload and 30 Handling for free just by giving them that rinky dink overshield!
The obvious benefit to basically having a Void overshield 24/7 is that you always have Offensive Bulwark active, which means 200% additional base grenade recharge rate. Takes Shaxx's advice and THROW MORE GRENADES.
One thing very peculiar about Vexcalibur is that instead of shooting one shot, it shoots 5 in a + shape. Each of these bolts deal 33 damage for a total of 165 damage, which is more than the slower firing aggressive frame glaives. The benefit of this is that if you land all 5 bolts you can then follow up with a melee and get the kill on ALL Resilience level enemies, something not possible with an aggressive frame glaive.
The downside to that is that you can land 2 of the center bolts and not get the kill with Vexcalibur because you missed the outside bolts, but I think the benefits outweigh the downsides in this case. It's a close range glaive used for brawling.
I 100% recommend running this with ACD/0 Feedback Fences because of how close range and melee oriented this glaive is. You should also run the Charged Up mod for 4 stacks of armor charge (more damage and melee resistance on Feedback Fences) and Stacks on Stacks (one melee = 2 stacks). This allows you to almost instantly get to 4 stacks for bonkers damage and melee resistance.
