When I started this channel over 3 years ago now, I never thought I would be here where I'm at today.
I originally created the Dank Dealer channel for two reasons, the first being my disdain for what was, at the time, modern meme compilation channels. So many of these newer channels begged viewers for discord engagement, left in obvious end watermarks for clips that could've easily been cut out, and would constantly cut out copyrighted audio just so they could make a little more ad revenue. The second was because I had too many damn memes saved to my phone and needed something to do with them. I wanted to make a channel that just posted memes because it was fun, to be able to be for many viewers what meme compilation channels of old had been for me and my friends, and I think a lot of you could attest, I accomplished that.
I'm not gonna glaze my content as something revolutionary because it isn't. I take clips I find on ifunny and Instagram and stitch them together with slight audio, pacing, and aspect ratio adjustments, anyone could really do it. But to see the amazing community that spawned from it is nothing short of astounding to me. Truthfully I would've thrown in the towel a while ago, but with how much fun I was having and with how much these dumb meme compilations meant to so many people, I decided to keep it going for as long as I could.
I usually take a break after Christmas and take time in the winter to go over a bunch of things to include this channel. And as has been happening more and more over the last few months, my heart really isn't in it anymore. Memes have continued to get more and more stale, the insanely hilarious clips that used to make the channel stand out among the rest have become harder to find, and I feel that if I decide to keep this going, eventually the good name this channel has built up over the years will definitely dry out. I get its sad to see this come to an end, but I'd rather end off on a high note, than beat this thing into the ground.
But of course, it would be a dick move to just wrap up shop now without giving you guys anything to hold onto. So the best way I felt to end this was to at least get to comp 250, with a few bonus comps of my personal favorite memes I kept after cleaning house with every comp. Those will probably premier before comp 250. Hopefully that should suffice.
I won't make any promises, but if there ever is a time where things on the internet get back to being fun, I wouldn't rule out a potential return. I don't wanna promise that because I don't know when that would ever be and I don't wanna give any of you false hope. That wouldn't be fair.
In the meantime I'll probably finally get around to completing the backlogs for the archive channel which I haven't been great with in the event some of these comps new or old get vaporized, and also really lock in on projects for my other channels. And before any of you ask, yes, I have been employed throughout the entire duration of this channel. But seriously, thank you to each and every one of you that has made this channel what it was, you all were the reason we've gotten this far and that truly means the world to me. And hopefully like many of you, I'll always look back fondly on this channel and all of you.
