Composed by Bernard Herrmann (frequent collaborator of director Alfred Hitchcock), the score to the 1958 film "Vertigo" ranks among his best, and was considered as such by Herrmann himself. Unfortunately for him, he was unable to conduct it himself due to a musician's strike in Los Angeles. It was instead recorded in London and Vienna, directed by Muir Mathieson.
