In this video, a new high speed CMOS output comparator family, the LTC6752(linear.com/product/LTC6752), is introduced. The comparators exhibit extremely high toggle rates of 280 MHz and very low propagation delays of only 2.9ns. An overview of important features and specifications is presented. A brief description of each of the five members of the family is given. Ways in which the digital output logic levels can be decoupled from the analog input signal range are shown.
Two applications that make use of the high speed of the devices are presented…a clock recovery application which makes use of the separate supplies feature, and a line receiver application which takes advantage of the excellent high frequency common mode rejection of the devices.
