This was originally created as an entry to the 2 player demon creator contest Gecko and I hosted. The level was finished, however it sadly did not get verified in time to be submitted before the deadline. After that, I heard nothing about the level, and the creators didn't make its existence known to the public. Fast forward to about 2 months ago, Dezon sent me a DM asking if I or anybody I knew would be interested in verifying it. This right before I was set to move out of University, and Gecko was busy too. As such, I had to decline the opportunity as neither of us were available to meet with each other or with Smiffy to give it a go. However, after some time passed, the level still had no verifier and Gecko and I were both free, so we asked Dezon and he let us verify!
This level is pretty cool. It progresses really well and each part of the level is definitely better than the previous. I wasn't too big of a fan of the visuals in the predrop as there was a lot of solid black colours with a lot of room for some effects or details, but it picks up a lot in the drop and the last 30% is super cool visually. Again, this was an entry to out contest and since it wasn't verified in time I can imagine some parts were a tad rushed, but overall I think the finished project looks really nice.
As for the gameplay, Dezon gave Gecko and I freedom to do whatever we wanted with the gameplay, however he expressed a wish for us to attempt to make the level unfriendly for solo players as Codependence has been the hardest solo completed 2 player level since June 2023 (until cognitohazard was placed literally 8 hours after we verified this LOL). Dezon wanted a level to challenge Codependence, so we made quite a few buffs to the level including those specifically designed to be difficult for solo players, such as the ship gap I buffed at 25%, or the last click requiring both inputs to be timed ever so slightly differently. On top of that, there really aren't many levels at this difficulty range available for 2 players either, so we wanted to make this challenging but fair for duo players too. In regard to difficulty, Gecko and I believe this is a little harder than WOBBLING MACHINE, which if rated would make it the hardest rated level beaten by 2 people. However, it is definitely easier than you when bee crusher, but why that isn't rated is a mystery.
Overall, Gecko and I found this one very fun to play, but it was of course a verification so naturally we were going to enjoy it with freedom to change things we didn't like. I hope this is enjoyable for anyone that attempts the level in the future. Thank you to Dezon and Styx for building such an awesome level, taking part in our contest (despite not getting it out for the deadline), and for letting us verify. It feels really nice finally getting a 2 player verification as someone who absolutely loves 2 player levels.
