This presentation was given on 6 February 2025 to the engineering team at Thales Alenia Space in Italy, who are designing and building the Envision spacecraft.
Planetary scientist Thomas Widemann from the Paris Observatory / Université PSL in France describes the history of Venus exploration, the current knowledge and open science questions motivating the Envision mission proposal.
Envision Project Scientist Anne Grete Straume-Lindner from the European Space Agency describes the Envision science objectives and how the mission is designed and developed to meet these, providing scientists with the necessary observations to address the science questions.
The presenters also describe how Envision scientists in Europe and the US collaborate with scientists across the world to advance Venus and planetary science. This is done by exploiting past and future Venus mission observations in synergy through collaborations and through exchange at international conferences and meetings.
