In less than three decades, Venezuela, one of the world's richest countries in natural resources became one of the poorest in Latin America. Politically, in the first quarter of the 21st century, Venezuela transformed into a regime with no legitimacy at the ballot box, sustained by repression.
In this episode of "Unmasking Revolutions," we trace the trajectory of Hugo Chávez's so-called Bolivarian Revolution: from its promises to end inequality, through years of propaganda and social programs, to the authoritarian regime of Nicolás Maduro — marked by fraud, hyperinflation, and mass emigration.
Following Nicolás Maduro's capture, we ask: Is this the end of "21st Century Socialism" in Venezuela? And what role does the United States play in the region's future?
