Economic collapse in Venezuela left, Julio with an impossible choice. Unable to support his family, he was forced leave his country to find work in Colombia, leaving his wife and three children behind.
But life has been tough for the father in Colombia. Working as an ice cream vendor, some days Julio made just $1 a day, meaning that he was unable to feed himself and support his family in Venezeula.
The International Rescue Committee helped Julio with cash assistance, so he can now buy food from the supermarket.
"It was a blessing," Julio says.
"I can go to bed without eating but my children cannot."
