The addition of M300 tool steel, combined with Velo3D’s advanced 3D printing capabilities, enables customers in the automotive and tooling industries to print higher quality, larger diameter internal channels enabling stronger products, higher machining throughput, and decreased manufacturing costs.
For years, engineers have leveraged Additive Manufacturing to unlock the power of conformal cooling channels to maximize tooling lifetimes. However, the design window for part optimization has been limited by the maximum printable channel diameter of less than 10 mm.
Velo3D’s ability to print high-quality surface finishes on complex large diameter internal cooling channels of up to 100 mm gives engineers order of magnitude increases for their designs. With M300 and the Velo3D large format Sapphire XC and XC 1MZ printers, the limits of design have changed.
