7 years ago or so, my girlfriend told me she was no longer going to eat meat, and shortly after that she decided she was going vegan. As a "meat and potatoes" guy my whole life, I can tell you right away that I didn't really understand it at all.
While I tried being supportive of her decisions, I definitely felt like she was trying to make me feel guilty sometimes, but in reality she was just sharing the truth with me so that I could make informed decisions, and understand her perspective a bit better as well.
She understood that if I truly knew what happened to animals, and on the insane scale it occurs, that I would come to some realizations and decisions of my own. And sure enough, I went vegetarian not long after she did, and have now been vegan for over 6 years.
So I get it. When we hear the things that vegans are telling us, it stirs something within us and maybe we feel guilty, or even remorseful. This just means that we have compassion and that we recognize conflict within ourselves and with our actions, even if it isn't entirely clear at first.
The initial stages of ridicule and denial are because we cannot (or don't want to) process these uncomfortable feelings. So we blame vegans and their "propaganda" for "making" us feel guilty. But tat just isn't the case.

So who am I?
Just a mid-30s guy living in Atlantic Canada, trying my best to be an example of how easy and normal it is to be vegan. Hopefully I can inspire others to think of the animals and the planet in their daily decisions, and well if you're into fitness I also run a bit and share it here. So yeah, I guess that's it. I like food, cats, music, and being outside. My gf Jamie is pretty awesome too :)
