Although the VCarve toolpath is commonly used for text carving, it’s also an excellent choice for other 2D designs since it’s one of the easiest ways to create unique and attractive CNC carvings.
In this session, I’ll show you how to create a v-carved vector design that simulates the hand-carving technique known as Chip Carving. I’ll show you how to use the editing, alignment, offset, and layout tools to create a complex chip carving design from just a few vectors.
My design technique is also very forgiving - as long as you follow a few simple guidelines, it’s hard to create a bad design. I’ll cover these guidelines in the session and show you how to use the 3D preview and toolpaths to verify the quality of your design. The design process and machining time are also relatively quick and often require only one bit change.
